2 Congregational Trips:
The itinerary for the Temple Emanu-El Adult Trip to New York City is set. The trip will take place Sunday-Tuesday, May 13-15, 2012.
The itinerary for the Temple Emanu-El Trip to Israel is also set. The trip leaves Sunday, June 3rd and returns on Monday, June 18th.
The itinerary has been developed completely by me, including the choice of hotels and meals that come with the cost. This trip is different from other trips that I have led so even if you have been with me on an earlier trip to Israel, I think you’ll find this one to be different. One unique aspect of this trip will be a visit to the Arab village of Ein Mahil, just outside Nazareth in the Gaililee. I don’t know of any Jewish group that has spent some time visiting an Arab village and meeting some of the Arab citizens of the State of Israel on a trip with a congregation. Our hosts there will be teachers at the Ein Mahil Comprehensive High School which participates in the Friends Forever Program. I sit on the Board of Friends Forever and we at Temple Emanu-El have hosted a couple of programs with the young people from Ein Mahil when they’ve been here on Friends Forever. I do believe that it is important that Jews and Arabs engage in dialogue for the sake of peace for future generations and we will have the experience to learn what Israeli Arabs believe and how they feel living as a minority in the Jewish state.
If you are interested in either the New York trip or our congregation’s pilgrimage to Israel, please let me know by either hitting “reply” to this message or by calling me at 978-373-3861.
