President’s Message

At our most recent Board of Directors meeting we invited the Temple’s Committee Chairs to provide the Board with a half year update. Each committee chair either read a prepared list of activities or for those unable to attend a summary of events. Here is a small sample of events that have occurred over the past six months:

Our Chesed committee has been offering members rides to our services and programs. If you would like to attend an offering at the Temple and need a ride please let us know.

The youth committee provided the board with a list of their accomplishments this year. After reviewing the list I can say without a doubt we are very fortunate to have an active and well organized youth group.

Our Adult education has provided the Temple with outstanding programming with more to come. If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of the informative programs I recommend you do.

The School committee continues to provide our Religious school with excellent leadership. We now have a student population of 68 students. The December book fair was by far the largest attended in recent years.

A well stocked and organized Library continues to provide outstanding services to our members. New offerings arrive weekly. The book club has been a smashing success. Please remember when purchasing items at Amazon.com to utilize the link on our Website. This provides much needed and appreciated funds.

While discussing appreciation. It is with a heavy heart that I have accepted Michele Howard’s wish to relinquish her chairmanship of the Membership Outreach Committee. For many years Michele has introduced new members to the family here at Temple Emanu-El. I have asked that she remain on the committee to see that our new Chairperson, Eric Jacobs continues her traditions.

The most difficult committees are the ones who attend to our budget and finances. We continue to review expenses weekly as you strive to live within our means. With that being said, if you have not paid or committed to pay your dues please make the necessary arrangements.

With all of the activities occurring at our Temple I am sure that there is something offered for just about everyone. Attend a meeting, become involved. We all have a special talent or idea that the Temple would love to incorporate in to the mix.
