President’s Message
I am sure you are aware with this bulletin article that I am passing the torch of presidency to our new president elect, Lynn Martin. The past two years have seemed to pass by like the blink of an eye. During my first Rosh Hashanah speech I mentioned my goals as President. The first goal being the creation of a heritage room. My vision of the heritage room was to have a place where members could walk through time while viewing historical Temple images. I am happy to say that the Alma & George Klinetsky Lobby is now the home of the heritage room providing the rich view of our Temple’s history such as the “Corner Stone” of the original Temple built on River Street in 1899, the spade used in the ground breaking ceremony of our Temple’s Community Center on January 22, 1950 and some of the newly reframed confirmation pictures.
While we are still in need of donations to have more of the confirmation pictures reframed and hung in the heritage room, there have been many projects that have been completed:
• New phone system
• Window replacement in the offices and Wise chapel
• CPR training for the staff and Executive Board
• Portable defibrillator
• Replacement of two refrigerators
• A new amplifier in the sanctuary
• A new memorial plaque board
A few projects remain, including repaving the 10th avenue parking spaces outside the Brindis Entrance and the relocation of the Torah in the front foyer. Please let us know If you are seeking an avenue to assist the temple with these two worthy projects.
The role of Temple president would not be complete without a truly dedicated professional staff. We are extremely fortunate to have a caring and hard working group at the Temple. The time and effort that they put forth is amazing!
Thank you all for making my two years; ones to remember.
Loren H. Goldstein
President
